German Marine Agencies, Inc. (GMA) a duly licensed manning agency was incorporated on 28th June, 1989 and started business operations on 14th August, 1989. Initially, our objective was to provide employment opportunities to able and qualified Filipino Seafarers, whose labor supply is noted for its abundance in our country. Currently, GMA has some 920 seamen employed on various kinds of vessels with another 450 vacationers ashore. Last June 1997 GMA passed its initial ISO 9002 certification which is still in place today.

It is accredited with the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) and with a fully paid up capital of 3 Million Pesos has been running the company since its beginning.

Captain Carlos A. Anacta, as the President. Aside from his seagoing experience as a Master on dry cargo vessels and tankers, he gained seven years experience as Operations Manager in the filed of hiring Filipino Seamen before joining with GMA. He is supported by Mr. Peter Borchers who is the General Manager and a Director of the company. Mr. Borchers has been in the ship management and crewing field for almost two decades,

GMA was set up under the helm of Captain Klaus S. Boehe, a well known-shipping executive from Germany and a partner of a ship management company in both Germany and Hong Kong. Captain Boehe, who is also a Director of GMA, possesses a solid experience in ship management for almost 3 decades in Hong Kong and Germany. In fact, the formation of GMA was his initiative and his continued support has made possible the attainment of GMA to its present operating status.

The GMA organization complement includes 22 regular staff members handling the day to day office routine work. With the aid of a fully computerized office, processing of all requirements of joining crew as well as remittances of allotments to their respective allotees are being attended to with sense of urgency, responsibility and reliability.

A large number of qualified and experienced seamen is now available in GMA’s pool of crew. GMA has established a program of continuing education through regular lectures and seminars, in order to upgrade the qualifications of seamen in its pool, thus maintaining their competitiveness with seamen of other countries. In fact, a portion of the office has been remodeled for this purpose.
